BANGSA MALAYSIA MERDEKA

A gathering of concerned citizens to remember

the original meaning and objectives of independence and nationhood;

A celebration of multiculturalism and independent-thinking civil society;

and a sincere hope that this country will not go to the dogs.

Stand up and be counted as one whose colour does not matter,

but whose voice does.

Stu

Hi guys, may I propose a rallying song for change.
The Scorpions number, “Wind of Change” with a few changes to the lyrics, may fit the bill.
Alas I am tied up and cannot lepak with you tomorrow, but I’ll certainly be ‘there’ in spirit.

“Vive la silken revolution”

We follow the Sungai Klang
Down to Merdeka Park
Listening to the wind of change
On an August tropical night
Malaysians passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like family
The future’s in the air
We can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take us to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where our children of races dream away
in the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
We follow the Sungai Klang
Down to Merdeka Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take us to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where our children of all races share their dreams
With you and me
Take us to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the people of Malaysia dream away
in the wind of change

The wind of change
Blows straight into the face of time
Like storm winds that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your many voices sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take us to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where our children of all races share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where all the people of Malaysia dream away
in the wind of change

[ GhL ] : Good one Stu, wish you could have joined us. We’ll meet another time.

Bangsa Malaysia Merdeka? This is like the city of Zion in the Matrix trying to fight against the machines. To all true anak Malaysia:

Very sorry, the cancer is too serious to cure. Time to chop off the infected part.

So,

RUN!!! RUN!!! RUN!!! Run for your LIFE!!!!!

[ GhL ] : Some of us have the option of leaving, garvi. Many others don’t. And it would be a pity to be turned out of our own homes.
Malaysia is a wonderful country with a X%$#*-up government, and the situation is certainly bad and getting worse. Having said that, those of us who came forward at the forum tonight are determined not to give it up without a damned hard fight.

The problem is that we’re not reaching enough people yet. And even when we do, it is extremely difficult to make them care enough to want to do something about it.

If we can just raise enough awareness among the people so that they go out and try to verify for themselves the truth of what’s reported in the (govt-controlled) mass media, most people are smart enough to decide right and wrong for themselves. We need to (re)introduce critical thinking to a society that has been actively “de-educated” (to use Malik Imtiaz‘s wonderfully precise term) by a decrepit national education system, a hijacked mainstream media and a constant stream of political spin/propaganda from UMNO-BN.
