[ UPDATE 3 ] 1800 . 11 Sept

Spotted on Rocky’s Bru: The Associated Press news network has picked up the story on the political violence at Batu Buruk. Good.

[ UPDATE 2 ] 1600 . 11 Sept

Contrary to reports received early this morning, both gunshot victims have survived and are in stable condition. Thanks EW for the update.

Separately, our gutter-quality Dewan Rakyat Speaker Ramli ‘The Stooge’ Ngah Talib has once again proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is signally unfit for the office of House Speaker. His blatant partisanship, spinelessness and clear incompetence was on full display today when he blocked an urgent Opposition motion to debate the issue of the Batu Buruk riots in Parliament. Since when was police brutality, partiality and political interference in elections ‘not an urgent matter to discuss?’

I have only one thing to say about this manure-sack Speaker: Sack this partisan stooge! Reassign him to the position of High Lord of Bootlickers in the Imperial Palace of Putrajaya.

OK, that counts as TWO things.

[ UPDATE ] 0100 . 11 Sept

Civil society blogger Elizabeth Wong has just posted a new status update on one of the 2 men shot in Saturday night’s violence.

Gunshot victim Suwardi Abdul Ghani, 37, has survived an operation to remove a bullet lodged in his lung and is in post-op recovery at Kubang Kerian Hospital in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

This blogger has just received unconfirmed reports that one of the gunshot victims has died. If true, this must be Muhammad Azman bin Aziz, 20, who suffered a GSW to the neck. I am currently (as of 0045H) trying to find independent confirmation of the reported death.

At least 6 other persons including 4 police officers are known to have been injured in the clashes.

Will post updates as soon as they come in.

A compiled account of the incident at Batu Buruk is here.
